First Day Back…

Today was my first day at school after the Winter Break.  I was somewhat apprehensive due what happened before I came home (if you don’t know the whole story just ask me), but it turned out fine.  I had to teach 4 hours this morning:  2 with my least favorite class and 2 with a class that is pretty cool.  The first 2 hours were spent talking about colonization in the USA, so that was a breeze.  I just sort of sat there while the teacher gave her lecture and answered some questions, occasionally adding some anecdotes. The next 2 hours were spent going over the proper way to use a dictionary as well as phonetics.  Don’t you wish you had my job?

So I have been back in Germany for 3 days now, and I am finally starting to get adjusted to the time difference (obvious since I’m writing this at 3:45 am).  There is a decent amount of snow on the ground, but the worst part is that it melted one night and then refroze.  Walking on the sidewalks can be compared to ice skating.  It makes for an adventure, but at the same time it is funny because I see people fall all the time.  Let’s just hope that I am not the one who falls next!

Tomorrow night I am doing a quiz night at this Irish Pub called the Dublin Inn.  My friend Carlos (originally from Venezuela), Andrea (another Fulbrighter in Hannover), and Franzy (University student who spent a year in D.C.) and I are going to try our luck.  I’m thinking I will specialize in politics/history and sports.  Carlos will be good with literature, philosophy and the such.  Andrea and Franzy are wild cards, but I am hoping that at least one of them is versed in pop culture, because Carlos and I sure aren’t. We’ll see how it goes.

By the way, if anyone wants to get me a late Christmas gift, you can purchase a Hasselblad 500 c/m for me.  You’d probably be my best friend.
